Hellooo

i just got accepted into slo and i was wondering how there bio program is? i know that the school is known for engineering so i am considering switching to bio medical engineering…any insight into the biology program? i may want to stick with it

Everyone will want to know if you applied early or regular, so let me be the first to ask. Congratulations in either case.

early but how is the biology program there cuz i dont know very much and i was hoping that someone could provide me sum insight into the program that they have at cal poly slo cuz rite now its either slo usc or uc irvine

Uh, if you applied early decision, why does it matter?

Early decision at Cal Poly is binding so welcome to CPSLO.

nevermind... u guys dont understand what im trying to say

That's because you aren't making sense. You say you were accepted ED. If that were true you would:

1) already have declared a major
2) Withdrawn all other aps to other schools
3) Not be in a position to wonder if you might end up going to UCI or USC

You got told, dude.

i applied early and got accepted but does it matter?
i dont have to go there
and i really dont wanna go there if ppl r gunna be so rude to me im basically trying to get info about their biology program there

I found this on there website:

Through MyCalPoly, indicate through the Accept/Decline link that you accept Cal Poly's offer of conditional admission by the appropriate deadline. Once you 'accept,' you are certifying that you understand and agree to these terms and conditions and that you are making a commitment toattend Cal Poly.
Early Decision January 15
Regular Decision May 1

So it seems like if you are ED you have to decide whether to attend CP before Jan 15. I this is what everyone is referring to. I hope you don't let a couple comments affect your decision to attend cal poly. It really is a great school.

The point of the mom posts is that Cal Poly ED is a binding decision. That means that you agreed when you applied ED that if you were accepted you would go there. At this point you had better contact the admissions office ASAP since you missed the Jan. 15th deadline to accept your (binding) admission. Hmmmn, you had better hope that either Cal Poly is OK with your failure to accept in a timely manner, or that you do in fact get in somewhere else. People aren't being rude here, just trying to point out that this is what you agreed to when you submitted your application as ED. If you weren't sure you should have just selected RD. Now you may have some problems. You may even find that Cal Poly contacts your other schools and lets them know of your failure to follow through with your commitments. This is a serious issue......call tomorrow.

Bio is great at SLO. I graduated in '06 and thought I received an excellent education. The teachers really focus on teaching the undergrads. The environment is wonderful there, as well. I suggest visiting in April for the Open House.

wrestler1234,

if you did apply ed, you must have been deferred because you were already suppose to reply by Jan 15th for ed. Which means you're now considered rd, so you do have the choice of not going there. check on our my cal poly webpage and see if it says you were admitted ed or rd because most people found out that they got in ed at the end of november, early december.

about there bio program.. i think they have a good program, but they're better known for engineering and architecture. i have friends in their biological sciences program and they like it. however, as much as people say it's really hard to switch majors there, it's not. as long as you do the courses required to transfer into whatever major you want and work on the courses for your current major and do good in them, you'll have no problem switch. i know i guy that was a biological sciences major but switched to aeronautical engineering. so it's really not that hard, so if you really would rather be in bio medical engineering, you won't have a problem switching as long as you have good grades.

and don't let what people are saying to you on here, base your decision. and if you did get in ed, it is binding, which means you have to go. but i'm assuming since you said you just found out.. you were admitted rd.. but i'm not sure. you really just need to check on your application status through my cal poly. anyways.. just check out the program for yourself and see if you like it.

That makes no sense. RD decisions are not out until the end of February. Did you fail to check your account for a long time?

idk collegemom16, i know it doesn't really make any sense.. but that's the best i could come up with because why would wrestler1234 have just found out about their acceptance if they got in ed?! plus.. i read an earlier post, and wrestler1234 asked when the people who applied in november find out about acceptance.. which means wrestler1234 must have applied rd. who knows.. maybe they're announcing a little early this year? :S wierd..

I suspect he just didn't check on his application status until now. He may have missed the Jan. 15th deadline. If so it is very important to call right away. This also points out the importance of reading carefully what you are agreeing to in any situation BEFORE you agree to it. The application stated clearly when acceptances would come out and when you would need to respond. I hope the OP takes what I am saying seriously and calls tomorrow or he may find himself attending a CC in the fall.

oh well.. that would make sense, which definitely sucks. calling tomorrow would be best.. but i think it might be already too late if that's the case..

I am a person that failed to respond to cal poly by the January 15th date and I definitely agree that he needs to call. My application was withdrawn from the whole Cal Poly system. The only thing I could do was write an appeal letter and thankfully they reinstated my application into the regular decision pool but there is still no guarantee that I will be accepted. (which I would be crushed if they didn't, considering I got accepted ED....but it is a completely different applicant pool)

It was because of a financial situation that caused me not to respond so I think they were pretty understanding but if it was for indecisiveness then I think he may be out of luck.
