280 hours of very intensive research conducted (paper submitted to Intel STS)
Recommendations: 1 is gold-plated; 1 is very good
Counselor rec: Excellent
Essay expected to be very good to excellent. (essay focuses on my research experience)

Can’t remember all awards but the best one must be the Assistant Principal’s Association award.

Be rough if necessary (we can all dream):
NYU
Cornell
Columbia
UPenn
Swarthmore
JHU
Haverford
Rice

Thanks for your input.

You have really good stats, especially GPA.. i don't understand how your rank can be so low, but that is beside the point...

I think your biggest problem will be Extra Cirriculars/Hook because being asian won't help you in the eyes of AdCom (sad to say that asians are not sought after by admissions, but that is my opinion after our one girl was rejected w/ 4.0, 1590 SAT (old) and good EC's). I think science is good, but i don't know if you have done somehting with research..

Example: One kid made a glove for blind people using nanotechnology and eingineering at our school, he is at CalTech..

You should get some leadership, and a hook for sure. There is nothing that seperates you from Joe Schmo unless your essays are amazing. Sorry for being harsh.

NYU - low reach/match
Cornell - low reach/match
Columbia - high reach
UPenn - depends what you want to do..Reach
Swarthmore - don't know enough about Swarth.. high match?
JHU - high match
Haverford - high match/low reach
Rice - match

Get a safety! What is your research on?

My research deals with a specific type of memory and the discovery is new and was made by my mentor. I'm continuing the research.

Congrats, that is unique and pretty cool. I'd use it for everything it is worth and if it is your passion make sure the ADCom's see this. Neuroscience? right?

I think you have a much better chance now, but you are still weak in the EC aspect of the application, but at least you have a hook.

Nearly everywhere you had a match you'll get in, Rice and JHU are iffy though

aSIAN, JUST OVER 1350, no exceptional ECs, your list is unrealistic.

Bro, you have no chance at a top 20 school!

dude, i wish your SAT was higher. it would help a lot. but i still think you can get in to some pretty good schools with your research background. just don't sound like another brown kid doing chemistry or what not in your essay, ok? I think it's very stereotypical.

NYU - match, but still a little shaky cuz of your SAT scores
Cornell- reach
Columbia- reach
UPenn- reach
Swarthmore-reach
JHU- reach
Haverford- i have no clue what haverford is
Rice-high match/reach

Your SAT is unfortunaltey too low. u say bad day, bu tu shoulda taken it again! anyway, if research was done in a facility and the guy wrote u a rec this is how i see it
NYU: match
Cornell: slight reach
Columbia:reach
UPenn:REACHH
Swarthmore:REACHHH
JHU:slight reach
Haverford: match
Rice:match/slight reach
