Help a confused international student..

I applied to RPI for Fall 2011, and I will require financial support. However, I just received an email from RPI saying that I need to submit the International Student Certificate of Finances, which states the financial support isn't offered to international applicants.
I e-mailed RPI and they haven't responded to me yet, so I'll ask my question here.. Does RPI offer need-based financial aid to international applicants? Or is it all scholarships? And if it is all scholarships, how generous are they with the scholarship packages?

I don’t have the facts, but I have the impression that there’s no financial aid for international students at most colleges. That said, there are opportunities to earn money or save money by being a Resident Assistant or Learning Assistant in a dorm, or perhaps doing research for a professor. You could not be an RA/LA freshman year but could later years.

curious about this too.

@JustASenior - did RPI reply already? do they or do they not give FA to internationals?

They waived my application fee, so I thought they might offer aid. But I don’t see anything in the website that tells which FA forms to fill out and send, etc.

They replied. They don’t offer aid, just merit scholarships, and they consider you for those along with your application, no separate application required. We’re not eligible for need-based financial aid.

^But did you have to still send the International Certificate of Finances? How are we supposed to send it if we don’t have the necessary funds in the first place?
