Help a first-time AP self-studier?

Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to help me. =]

My school is very small and does not offer an AP classes. I am very interested in several competitive colleges, and would like to have the experience of APs, so I am planning on self-studying. Basically, I have a bunch of questions and anyone who could answer any of them and/or give me any other advice about this process would be really appreciated.

-Are AP Tests or SAT Subject Tests harder?

-And if I'm self-studying all my APs, would it make sense to take AP tests first or SAT Subject Tests first? Do you take them in the same subject?

-How many AP Tests will make it noticeable to colleges that I self-studied?

-Will colleges even care that I self-studied APs?
Note: I am NOT self-studying to "enhance" my college application, but I am generally interested about the process and would like to be given some recognition for my hard work.

-I am also spending 4+ hours a week on a Latin 4/5 Independent Study, and hope that all this self-studying in addition to my heavy courseload at school will distinguish me and show schools that I care A LOT and have the personal drive to succeed in school and on my own.
Is that a realistic assumption or are so many people self-studying these days, it no longer looks impressive?

Thanks, any advice would be SUPER appreciated! =]

Does anyone have any thoughts?

i've only taken the Chemistry SAT II and the Math I SATII, both have been easier than AP classes (i would hope so, since AP is college level)

it is highly recommended that you take the SAT Subject Tests when you have completed an AP course. it's not necessary, but you'll have an advanced knowledge of the subject, which increases your chances for x>700

colleges will notice if you have even self studied 1 AP exam. they'll notice that you weren't in a class yet have a score.

learning college material on your own is definitely still impressive. not THAT many people do it. (CC is skewed)

Okay, thank you very much! I think I will self-study the course and then take the SAT Subject Tests.

Your advice is very much appreciated. =]

Whether you wanna enhance or not, by jus mentioning you self studied, youd be enhancing. Even if this isnt your goal, I recommend do it anyway

-Are AP Tests or SAT Subject Tests harder?
AP Tests

-And if I'm self-studying all my APs, would it make sense to take AP tests first or SAT Subject Tests first? Do you take them in the same subject?
It depends on the dates that the sats are administered. One smart thing that I did was take U.S History SAT II a few days before the AP test, so studying for the ap test was basically my way of studying for the sat. Try to do this for whatever tests you can.

-Will colleges even care that I self-studied APs?
Let them care. Itll only make you look better.

Is that a realistic assumption or are so many people self-studying these days, it no longer looks impressive?
I thought the same thing. I agree with stephenn, cc people are much different than real people and until you realize that, you wont know that just self studying for anythign on your own is an awesome task.
