Ok so I'll be a junior next year and my current schedule is as follows:

AP Bio
AP US History
French 4 Honors
American Lit Honors
Alg II/Trig
Symphony
Biotechnology

My question is---should I be taking more AP classes instead of Symphony and French?
I know doing four years of a language is good, and I've been in orchestra programs since 4th grade.

The only AP's that would be open to me would be:
Chem AP
Art History AP
Music Theory AP
Human Geography AP
(or I could petition to take Macro/Micro Econ AP, or Stats AP)

Should I stick with Symphony, or take an extra AP?
I really should take Chemistry for the major I am interested in right now, but taking Bio and Chem AP at my school is pretty much unheard of and impossible. What should I do?

why don’t you take AP Chemistry instead of AP biology? and if i were you I’d stick with my schedule. Take French, and yes stick with symphony too. AP Human Geo and Music Theory don’t sound too great to me. Junior year was insane for me, and i took only two APs and remember quality>quantity.

AP Bio and Biotech kind of go hand in hand since they are both life sciences, but Chem might go well with it also. I was thinking about taking Chem next summer at community college.
Any other opinions?

I think your schedule is fine:) Take classes that you are interested in, don’t feel compelled to take an AP class just for the sake of taking one. I’m sure you will do well!

Just take a schedule that is sufficiently difficult compared to others. If it were me at my school, I’d stack on another 4 AP, but that’s probably not the case at your school.

Hm well most people only take one or two AP’s a year, but some of the most advanced students take more…
Should I take AP Chem and trade it in for one of my other classes (like Symphony)?
Keep in mind that honors classes are weighted at my school

UCLA and UC Davis for biomedical engineering.
I would like to apply to Caltech and Cornell also, but Caltech prefers if you have a year of Chemistry, and they want math through Calculus, which I could do if I skip Precalculus.
Most engineering programs want you to take Chemistry, which is kinda why I want to take it ha

It really depends on other parts of your application. If you’re only taking 2 AP classes, your GPA needs to be near perfect. Aim for high SATs. Continue long-term extracurriculars.

I took two APs my junior year (3 overall) with a UC GPA of 4.4 (straight As).
My only rejection was UCLA but I was accepted to all the other UCs including Berkeley. Caltech and Cornell might be reach schools for you depending on other things like GPA, SAT, and extracurriculars. I recommend taking a college chemistry class in the summer or AP Chem your senior year. You should also take a physics class and you seem a bit behind in math compared to others. Maybe take pre-calc over the summer so you can take Calculus your senior year?

However, like others have said, don’t do something because it might look good on a college app, but because you want to do it.

If you enjoy symphony, don’t drop it. Symphony is a great extracurricular and something that might help take your mind of the junior year stress.

4 years of French isn’t necessary, but if you like it, do it. I took 3 years.

I am planning to take precalc over the summer next summer so I can take Calc AB senior year, and already have Physics Honors in my schedule for senior year, but my senior year schedule is already pretty difficult so I’m worried about taking Chem on top of the other classes.
I’ve also been studying for the SATs and have volunteer work/EC’s, etc.

My schedule for junior year is as follows:
Alg II/Trig
Symphony
AP Bio
AP US History
ROP Biotechnology
American Lit Honors
French 4 Honors

Senior year:
Calc AB AP
Symphony
Physics Honors
Macro/Micro Econ AP
Comp/Lit AP
French 5 AP
and one semester Gov/Pol AP

I could possibly drop French senior year and take Chem instead, but I’m thinking my schedule is already reaaaally difficult (in comparison to my other classmates and school).
However, taking three science classes in one year, two of them AP’s, is ridiculous, and I definitely want to keep both I am taking junior year…
DILEMMA

Sooo I made a decision thanks to you guys and some friends at my school!

I am dropping ROP Biotech and taking Phys/Anat instead, and taking AP Chem senior year instead of AP French, and making Econ a one-semester, non-AP class.
