Help a Junior Create a college list! (Computer Science major)

3.8 UW GPA, 1520 SAT, 8 APs by graduation, nothing too special in the extracurriculars area

I’m looking for colleges with good reputation for undergrad CS, preferably not liberal arts, and not in a secluded city - It’d be great if you guys could come up with suggestions in the Reach, Match, and Safety area. Thanks!

Do you know how much you can afford to pay without taking any loans? Also, what state are you in (many state universities are very good at CS)?

@DadTwoGirls Unfortunately, I’m from Idaho so I’m definitely eager to get out of state. My parents are pretty well off and they said money is not a concern at all, so I’m open to any colleges.

Bump!

Reaches: Obviously MIT and Caltech. Definitely Carnegie Mellon. Stanford and UC Berkeley are more liberal arts, but they might be techy enough to satisfy you.

Match, a little reach: Georgia Tech, Harvey Mudd, University of Michigan, Northeastern (co op is suuuper effective for CS)

Match: RPI, WPI

Safety: RIT, UMass Amherst, University of Minnesota, UWisconsin Madison, SUNY Stonybrook

I know not all of these schools are exactly as requested (some liberal arts, some small towns). Also, I’m not a 100% on the difficult designations. However, I hope there are some schools you hadn’t thought about that can help you form your list.

CMU-reach
RPI-match
Stony Brook-safety.
I got into CMU and RPI for engineering but I probably wouldn’t have been accepted to CMU for CS.
I didn’t try Stony Brook because I knew I’d get into RPI and it was my preferred.
RPI is excellent in CS and is in your Match range so I’d give a strong encouragement for it.
