Help a junior create her college list!

With junior year drawing to an end, I’m looking ahead at senior year and trying to start narrowing my search. Any insight as to which colleges would be a good fit for me is appreciated!

Demographics: Latina female who goes to a public high school in NC with 1000+ students

Intended Major(s): English or environmental studies

ACT: 35 (36 Reading, 34 English, 35 Math , 34 Science)

UW GPA: 4.0
W GPA: 4.6

Coursework: 13 AP Classes (3-sophomore year, 5-junior year, 5-senior year (already registered)) with 1 science class taken at local state university

Awards: Not many, to be honest. AP Scholar, National Hispanic Recognition, and one Scholastic Art and Writing Regional award.

Extracurriculars: 200+ volunteer hours, internship with local non-profit, ran XC for 3 years (probably won’t do it senior year), ran indoor track for 2 years, ran track for 1 year

Leadership/Summer Activities: NC Gov School, Student Body President, President of Mock Trial Club, VP of Interact Club

Essays: I’ve already written my common app essay and I’m pretty proud of it so 7/10

LOR: Maybe a 6/10 and a 8/10?

Budget: My family can only afford to pay $15k-$20k a year so I’m looking for colleges that offer really good financial aid for families that make under $125k a year or that offer tuition-free scholarships since that’s essentially what I can afford. Also, I really want to go out of state so there’s that as well.
Thanks so much for helping!!!

can you narrow down major, size of school, geography etc… You have great stats so I would take a shot at some Ivies and top 20 schools. Really you should make a lot of top 50’s. Apply to your state flagship for monetary and safety reasons as well.

Check out women’s colleges (for a variety: Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke, Scripps, Agnes Scott)

Plan to apply to your state flagship’s honors college as soon as apps open.

Most importantly talk budget with your parents right now. Run the NPC on your state flagship and a few colleges, see what they say. Budget is the #1 constraint for college applicants.

This site can be especially convenient for estimating college costs:
