help a junior find his place in society...

Hi, im currently a junior at a public high school with a horrible graduation rate: 50%. Im also hispanic. By the end of my junior year my GPA will be about 3.0 maybe 2.9/2.8, which i know is absolutely horrible. I took 2 honors freshamn year, 2 honors and 1 AP sophmore year, and this year im taking 2 AP. Next year i plan to take 2 more AP = 5 AP classes total. I took a princeton review class for my SAT and was able to achieve a meager 1700. I hope by spring it will be 1800. I also live in CA. 2 years of water polo and 1 year of swimming. I volunteered at the boys and girls club. I also worked and plan on this summer again. Trust me, if i could go back in time i would in a heartbeat to do better, but it was my fault for screwing up. So are their any slight chances i could get into any universities, or straight to the JC for me?

thanks for your help

i also did student council sophmore year and have been with AVID for 3 years..

bump... not even a cal state?!

you can definitely get into a 4 year college...

ok so what am i looking at? im taking a refresher course from princeton before i take my SAT in which i hope to increase 100-200 points. I would love to get into a UC, my favorite campus being Santa Cruz. I bet by 2007 it could be quite hard to get into. Do you recommend i join some clubs, even this late into high school?

bump /\/\/</p>

STEP ONE: work your butt off
STEP TWO: show them that you have used your unfortunate circumstances as a challenge, not simply as an excuse.
