help a junior out?

Anything I should do to help my chances here? MIT seems super awesome. My concern is mostly that my clubs don't show a real interest in science: I actually like chem a lot. I wanted to intern at a lab or something this summer, but since I skipped a grade (plus late birthday) I'm not old enough...

UW GPA: 4.00
W GPA: 4.79
We don't have rank yet, I'm guessing I'd be top 5 in my class at least?

I took AP gov last year (got a 5 on the exam) and I'm doing 5 AP's this year (calc ab, chem, comparative gov, studio art, and world history).

Haven't taken any SATs or SAT II's yet...Eeek, I know.

Extracurriculars:
Young Democrats - VP, we organized a town hall meeting with some local political candidates last year, we went to a big state political dinner/schmoozefest every year.

Mock Trial - was a witness last year, hopefully a lawyer this year? I love mock trial, I'm really looking forward to this year's season.

Amnesty Intl - as a freshman, with the club, we raised about $1000 for tsunami victims.

MSA (muslim student assoc.) - err, I'm actually not muslim, but I'm rather interested in the religion and the culture. I went to a regional MIST competition and got 2nd place in photography last year. Definitely going again this year.

Math Team! - I just joined this year, and I think I'm in love. I told myself I was "bad at math" for a looong time, it turns out I'm not terribly bad at math. :D

Other Misc Things?
I interned with a county executive campaign this summer, I'm really hoping he wins. It was a lot of fun, I got to see how a campaign works...basically lots of paperwork and phone calls, haha.

I'm very into art, as well...I'm taking art at school, and I photograph for fun. I photographed a rally in DC for Code Pink and Cindy Sheehan this summer. I know that no matter where I apply next year, I'm DEFINITELY sending a portfolio.

I know what you mean about being too young to work in a lab. What's annoying is knowing more Biology than the undergrads who are working there, and you can't even walk in.

You seem very passionate about your political work (Mock Trial, Young Democrats, etc.). Try to emphasize that. It's great that you were able to intern. Try to go as far as you can in Mock Trial competitions- it would be nice to have some way to quantify your success there.

It's ok to be very passionate about non-science things.
