Hello,
i'm a 2nd years old medical student i need some advices to become a good doctor, i study in Algeria and that doesn't really help because even if i passed my 1st year with 14/20 (which is a good result) i doubt that i'll be a good surgeon here because studies are not very effectual and i won't be able to work anywhere else with the Algerian medical diploma, so i want to move out maybe finish my studies somewhere else where they actually really know how to teach and form a good doctor, i don't know where i should go, i love UK but i'm not sure if it's the best choice first because i'm not rich enough and i know that studies there are pretty expensive but if it's the best place to learn medecine then i'll wait until i finish my studies here get enough money and go re-study there; anyway i'll be really thankfull if you could give me some advices like where should i start? and who should i contact? and please know that i'm ready to do everything to expand my knowledge and get the best training to become a good surgeon so what do you suggest me to do?

Perhaps you should ask on the Student Doctor Network for advice…

thank you for the reply, i will do that.

You can’t attend med school in the US; after you’ve qualified in your country you can prepare the American qualifying exams but that means you need to perform academically (and not anger anyone who needs a bakchish) for the next 6 years.
Look into French universities - you’ll have to retake your first year and succeed in the two competitions (weed out finals week in December, final competition in June. Only 16% are selected, 50% are allowed a second year for a retry.) But if you passed your 1st year with a 14 you should be okay. Tuition is something like $250 per year, of course you have to pay for room and board etc and that’s quite costly but manageable.
There are also French-speaking programs in Romania which are a bit more costly but are easier to get into.
For the UK you’d need to register with UCAS this September and have a statement in English about your experience in the medical field (plus grades of 14-16 in math and science for your bac).

thank you for replying, for the UK is the fact that i studied a year in my country enough for the experience in the medical field? knowing that i usually volonteer to go to the hospital with my sister (she’s a doctor and she works at the hospital) to learn things, and for the grades i scored 20/20 at maths and 15.5/20 at science in my baccalaureate exam here, so do i have a chance with the UK universities?

You would def stand a chance in the UK. In your ucas statement you would have to discuss your experience at the hospital. - they don’t care it’s with your sister . you would also need to get a high score at IELTS

i’m good at english so i won’t have any problems with the IELTS, the real problem is the Tuition, can you please tell me how much i need to pay fees?
