Hey guys, I've been hanging out around CC for awhile, but now I actually have a question. On Emory's supplement, should I just focus on Oxford College (I'm not even applying for the main campus) or try and find things for the university as a whole? I've visited Oxford and have my essay planned out around how great it was, so do I need to change it? Thanks for taking the time to help a newbie out!!! :)

Even though you’ll end up at the main campus after two years, you’re applying directly to Oxford so your supplement response should focus on what you’re going to take advantage of while you’re there. Just from my point of view, if I read an Oxford essay and it talked about Emory as a whole, I’d be wondering why the applicant didn’t just apply to the main campus. I think your essay should be good to go! Hopefully other members can give their opinion too so you feel confident in what you’re submitting.

Hi, I’m a current freshman at Oxford. If you’re only applying to Oxford, then you should talk about the benefits of Oxford in the Why Emory supplement.

I’ve spoken to several students who work in admissions and they’ve stated that since Oxford can now build a class rather than accept everyone, the school is starting to care more about demonstrated interest. Writing your Emory essay about why Oxford is a good choice would certainly demonstrate that interest.

Thanks guys!!! I’m glad my initial instincts were right, and my essay is now good to go!
