I'm interested in schools where I could get a a lot of scholarship money/financial aid. My family isn't really eligible for very much financial assistance, but merit aid would be very helpful. I also am looking for schools which are located in very interesting areas/cities. I would like to go to a school with a lot of diversity/tolerance, with at least a fairly liberal climate. I would prefer to go to a school in the west/southwest, but I'm open for suggestions! I want a school with a definite party scene, but not an overwhelming one. Help me! Thanks!

Perhaps Harvey Mudd?

It might be kind of a reach but you seem to be interested in math and science and Harvey Mudd is a great school for all that. It’s located in Claremont and the Metrolink station is close by so you can have access to Los Angeles pretty easily. Plus you have access to the other 4 colleges in the Claremont Consortium, each with their own social scenes and diverse student populations so there should be plenty to do I think.

Certainly check out Alabama and UAB.
