Applying REA to Stanford

Incoming junior or senior?

Wow, you’re a lot more proactive than I am.

I think it’s too early to truly finalize your college list before you have your junior year grades, SAT scores, college visits done, and an idea of your financial situation. There’s a chance that this list could be completely different in a year when it’s time to start applying to colleges.

Well, I messed up. I am going into senior year next year.

I am an incoming senior.

If you are serious about petroleum engineering, you should also consider UT and Texas A&M.

Being located so close to the global energy capital of Houston, both schools are major pipelines (as it were) to the oil industry, both on the technical side and the financial/business side. For example, it’s not uncommon to find petroleum engineers working on the oil and gas teams of Houston investment banks.

Your stats would make you a strong candidate at TAMU.

Cost constraints?

I would probably add a few more matches not as competitive as Navy or West Point. Even USC as a legacy. You count parents, in general. And the advantage isn’t doubled. But your stats and legacy make it a high match.

Good luck.
