I applied as a transfer to Carleton and was overjoyed to find that I am accepted. My problem lies in the fact that the school determined that I do not qualify for financial aid. After recent events though, my parents think otherwise and say they will only pay 30k, twice what my current state school costs.

Is there anything I can do to get the finaid office to reconsider? Will pleading or arguing do anything to help my case? I'm in a real need of advice because if they give me no help, there's no way I can attend. Thanks for any help

You can always contact the financial aid office to discuss your situation. Be sure to explain what the "recent events" are, and how they will impact your parents' income.

I agree with fireflyscout: contact fin. aid and explain the "recent events." A change in circumstances often means a change in fin. aid--more or less depending on such things as a parent losing a job or getting a better-paying one. Good luck!

do write to them- i worte to the finaid office regarding an increase in finaid and they didn't reply- so i thought they had ignored my request until i got a letter giving me a federal subsidized loan for the amount i had requested.

I received my letter through snail mail on the 10th. Supposedly they've made they're decisions for transfers already, maybe you should try calling?
