<p>One thing to check is if your college sells used appliances, bookshelves, etc on campus at move-in. My D's school does. My D got her refrigerator that way - worked great & was incredibly inexpensive. Students donate stuff they don't want to transport & it is sold the following semester at move-in - great recycling!</p>
