I'm in a rush to complete my Common App and submit it this Thursday. However, the Common App gives an "Additional Information" essay as an option for transfer students to explain extenuating circumstances. I'll just say that, as a non-traditional student, I have plenty of extenuating circumstances. Most important, I think, has been my learning disability, which I was diagnosed with several years ago. I mention this adversity in my personal essay (i.e., the long, most important prompt of the Common App) and how I've been able to overcome it. However, I'm not sure I should revisit the issue in the Additional Information Essay; it seems like I'd be drawing an unusual amount of attention to my failures (although my grades have recovered significantly since my diagnosis and therapy). I mean, with all the people applying and competing for spots as transfer students, why would a college take a student that might fall behind at some point due to their disability (this wouldn't happen, I'm just trying to see things through Admission's eyes). At the same time, people have advised the opposite, that is, that I should bring attention to the diversity I'd provide the college with.

A little lost...
