I’m currently go to A college with 11 units. Means, I’m a three quarter time student.
At the same time, I enrolled to the B college with 5 units class, but this class is repeated class
In order to be a full time student I have to take 12 or more units in per semester.
So, if I go to both college at the same time… Am I considered as a Full time student? or a part time student??
Please help me out.
Description ::
A community college or another comparable institution. Please note that the full time course load for the quarters / semesters must be taken consecutively; breaks in academic study between a quarter or semester are not allowed.
Does this means I’m Full time Student… Right…??
No, you’re a part-time student at 2 different colleges. I don’t think you can enroll in more than one college at a time. Do the colleges know you’re enrolled in 2 different schools? To receive full-time federal aid you’d have to be a full-time student at one college, and that generally means taking 12 credits. Why don’t you just add a 3-credit class at the school where you’re taking 11 credits? That will bring you up to 14 credits and full-time status.
I talked to one of the UC counselor on last week, and she told me if I take 5units class on B college, and take 11 units on A college will make me a Full time student…
What if I transfer my B college grade at the end of semester to A college transcript?
Would it be still considered as Full time student tho??
thank you for answering austinmashauri.
@stegates, Are you trying to get full-time status for financial aid? You can cross register at another college if the first gives you permission. I’d forgotten about that, but I don’t know how that would affect aid. I’d call or visit the financial aid office at UC to make sure they consider you a full-time student. @Kelsmom is a frequent poster who works in financial aid. Maybe she’ll know.
If you’re cross registered, you’ll have to have a transcript sent to UC (is this a CA school?) so the credits will transfer. I think only credits transfer, not grades, so the 5 credit class won’t affect your GPA at UC.
Generally, the only way that you will be considered a full-time student due to credits at two schools is if the schools are in a consortium agreement & you are enrolled in the consortium program. It is possible some states have agreements within their state school system that allow cross-enrollment lilk @austinmshauri describes - I have not been involved in this sort of thing. I suggest looking at the financial aid pages to see the requirements - if you want to post the school name, I will see if I can search for the school’s aid regulations.
