Help an average history buff =].

So I'm pretty average, I'd guess.
I'm a white female from MI. First generation American (my mom's from Spain, but I'm not Spanish). Grew up poor, live in lower middle class now.
My GPA is going to be at about a 3.6 uw, 3.7 w at the end of junior year.
3 AP classes, 4 honors. All honors senior year.
ACT-29 (English-28, Math-31, Reading-33, Sci-25).
SAT- 1850 (CR-590, M-630, W-630). SAT II- Math 2- 650, Bio M-640.
Well over 450 hours of community service, a few hundred hours of tech on school plays, a few clubs and president of one.

I really like history and I want to major in ancient history/ ancient civilizations/ or classics. But I want to go on to law after that.

A handful of other students and I were chosen to work on a history senior project which, in short, is a bunch of interviews with people who've been in our school district for many years, including one who graduated in 1929! The final project is an audio cd which goes into a national project, and we'll be able to turn that in with our admissions.

So, what's a good school for me? Thanks so much!

Oh! I'd rather have an LAC. A smaller school, preferably one without a lot of required math and science classes. Make sense?

Bump. Any suggestions please??

Hi Izzy,

Have you looked at Pitzer? It's a really good school but not unattainable, and they focus on an interdisciplinary approach so even if you wanted to study history you could study a bit of law as well.

They do have some general course requirments though (I know math is one but I'm not too sure about science) but they offer quite a few courses that aren't like calculus or anything...like the philosophy of math, or stats or something like that

Hey ali, I have never heard of it actually.

The thing with the math is, I had always gotten straight A's in it until this year in AP Calc AB when I got a D+ first semester and am going to get a D+/C- this semester. It was my teacher's first year teaching calc and the whole class did poorly, but the result was I just go turned off to upper level math like calculus. I am retaking it this summer to both get rid of at least one of the grades and find out if it is truly the material I don't like or the teacher's method of teaching it. I am taking AP Prob and Stats next year tough.

But thanks for your suggestion. I will definitely look into it =].
