I don't know if i accidentally sent part of this message before (i was in the middle of typing when it logged out).
I was born "Jewish" but my family was never religious. A few years ago, i decided I wanted to convert to christianity (it's a long story) and have been researching the diffrent sects of christianity ever since. I've been attending church with my protestant friends and my experiances have been so great that I really want to attend a christian college next year. I know that Notre Dame is Catholic (meaning it would be very different than a protestant affiliated school) but I would still love to go there because it's the "best" religoius school academically. Basically, would it put me at a disadvantage if I put that my religion is "Jewish" on the application...even if i'm not jewish? Any suggestions would be helpful...thanks!

Believing in whatever religion or even not believing in anything would NOT put you at a disadvantage.

You should just put "Protestant" since you are one.

Honesty is the best answer here.

I agree...I think that you should tell the truth, which is you are a convert from the Jewish faith to Christianity. It would make for an extremely interesting essay, by the way.

Honestly, if you are going to lie about your religion, you should probably put Buddhist or something. But you probably shouldn't lie about your religion. It won't help you significantly and inevitably the bad karma it'd create would spawn something worse happening.

Just my $.02

I still believe religion has no bearing whatsoever on admissions, but that is debated between me and a few other posters :). Put what you feel most comfortable with, at the very worst it won't get you in and it won't keep you out. I think that we all can agree with.

well I agree with Irish

They say that they are blind to relegious affiliation... but like 84 % of students are Catholic.........

Take that for what its worth

Be honest tho

Nd is 84% catholic because most students that apply and attend ARE Catholic! Not all, by any means!!We think son's roommate is part Jewish (father), although he was raised Catholic. Do not be afraid to put down your religious affiliation-I believe that first and foremost Notre Dame is looking to admit the brightest students that can handle the academic rigors of the University. If you cannot handle the academics, you are not going to make it at ND. And while I also believe that ND looks at the whole package, I do not think that religion is going to keep you out, especially if you submit a competitive application. Good Luck!
