Hey guys I am self-studying AP-Psych, I am only a Freshman. I have barely looked at it so anyone got any tips? I have Barrons, PR, 5 Steps, and REA Crash Course. Probably using Rea because its the shortest. Thanks

wonder if you can even get 5.

Yeah, seeing some other people’s stories, I am confident I can get a 5. I have an amazing memory so I think I can handle the information. If anyone has doen this or has any tips it would be great.

It’s just a bunch of memorization, so you’re just going to have to read and re-read the information. I used Barron’s and feel very prepared, even more so than my friends who actually took the class (I self-studied).

Psych is not difficult. Just read Barrons and make flashcards for all the terms. You’ll be fine.

I’d read through REA CC as many times as possible.

I’m studying with Barron’s. It is a m a z i n g

OK thanks guys. Barrons is longer so is it better to read that completely than reading REA CC more times? REA is like bare bones info. I think I will finish the REA book tonight. Should I move on to Barrons or continue REA tomorrow? Also, anyone know which book has the best practice tests?

I like 5 steps personally.

just know the terms and you will be fine!

After i have read the princeton,i do the released exam but found it is a fault to complete the review book without the cognizance of what will be tested in the real exam…so many psychologists, experiments, definitions, drugs and biology terms to remember…
But some people read the book in 2 days and got a 5…so good luck to you!

Ok, I read the book one time and took a practice test. I barely got a 3. Anybody have any tips to improve besides reading the book more times and taking more practice tests.

Also, I have no clue how to write an FRQ, anyone have some tips about that?

^Just answer the question…you don’t have to write an essay or anything

ok, Thanks. I was a little worried, but the answers seem pretty informal. Do the graders just look for key phrases?

you also need to(maybe only need to?)write concrete examples that related to the information in questions~
when we write about"proactive interference",we should not only answer with the definition but also with “Dimitri and Linda start moving from an old routine and forget the moves for the new routine they learned for the competition”

why are you waiting until just now to study, especially since your self studying the AP exam??

Kaplan makes a 100 pg review book that’s perfect for cramming. That’s what I’m doing for APUSH.

Ahhh, I was extremely busy. I studied the first few chapters in December. I am also self-studying for 3 other APs. January, February, and March were each for the other APs. I had set up April to be for psych, but my English teacher bombed us with a long research paper and presentation. Then, I had to fill out summer program applications and essays. I literally finished this stuff yesterday. Plus, I go to a school with 4 hours of homework per night with :P. And weekends have been full as I have had to go to 3 national/state competitions in the past month. Ehh, the worst decision was probably letting my family suckering me into going on vacation with them. Whatev…

I’ve been in your situation. I self-studied AP Psychology and I started the Sunday before the exam. I read through Barron’s once in its entirety and highlighted what I deemed important. Then I went back and read over what I had highlighted a few times. Got an easy 5.

You’ll be fine, just make sure you use your time this weekend effectively.
