Help anyone?

I'm thinkin about applying to fsu as a transfer student however I don't know if I am able to. On the website it says that the min gpa for students wishing to transfer enterring as sophomores is 3.00, and i only got a 2.96 my freshman year...however I was a 3.7 student in highschool, president of numerous clubs, and was accepted to the naval academy.... does my .04 stop me from applying? or do I still give it a shot? Also what is really good about fsu? I mean besides the weather/sports I don't know to much about the school, faculty, alumni-network? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would suggest you give it a shot. You never know until you actually put yourself into the place where a decision can be made. The worst they can tell you is 'no' or 'try again'. Persistence is essential.

Read through the FSU website http://www.fsu.edu/ , the stuff on Wikipedia about FSU http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_State_University , try also www.fsu.com and through the listings in this section. I've tried to put highlights or other interesting analyses about Florida State on here as often as I can.

Once you've looked at that, there are FSU students and alumni who review this board who can fill in the gaps. I have one daughter (biochemistry) http://www.chem.fsu.edu/ there now and another who is starting as a freshman this fall (dietetics) http://www.chs.fsu.edu/ . I'm also an alumnus who graduated in the 1970s (accounting http://www.cob.fsu.edu/ , criminology http://www.criminology.fsu.edu/p/cjl-main.php ). Further, I've family who attended both FSU (nursing http://www.fsu.edu/~nursing/ , speech pathology http://www.comm.fsu.edu/ , meterology www.met.fsu.edu/ ,french, spanish, russian http://www.fsu.edu/~modlang/ , political science http://www.fsu.edu/~polisci/ ) and UF (history, pre-law/political science) and so can compare reasonably well, for a sense of perspective, the two flagship schools in Florida and a number of their programs.

The future of FSU is probably best discerned by reading through the President's web pages: http://president.fsu.edu/
