Help ! AP Euro

So basically next year i have two choices.
1. (What i'm planning now) To take World History Honors and self study AP world history along with it.
2. Take AP Euro

The thing is , my gpa isn't too good (3.0) unweighted so if i do bad in AP Euro idk how i'll get it good enough for college. & I've never taken an AP class before, I've heard AP Euro is one of the hardest so idk if i could just jump into it and get an A

One year ago I had a similar situation. I went with AP Euro and never regretted it. Of course, like any AP class, the difficulty of it depends on how well your teacher teaches the class. I’m assuming you’re either a Freshman or a Sophomore. It’s really not that hard of a class, it just requires a bit of reading at home. Test taking skills and time management skills are essential during examination. If you’ve been introduced to persuasive essay writing and 5 paragraph essays and such, and you are a relatively good writer, essays should be a piece of cake. My teacher would give us past essays to practice with, and ive aced every single one after the first 3. Essay writing is something that you’ll develop within the course, but it always helps if you have background skills. Its a really interesting course, and hopefully your teacher does a good job of keeping the students interested in the material. Paying attention in class is ESSENTIAL. The class goes WAY too fast so you cant afford to be behind, even by so much as a couple of days.

I would definetly choose Euro over self-studying world, mainly because self-studying may get discouraging after a couple of months and because Euro is such a rewarding course. If you enjoy it, you will love history like never before.

Yeah i’m a freshman, I didn’t take AP Human Geo this year for idk what reason. And the thing is if I take World History H , i’ll get an A. But our AP Euro teacher is great but the avg # of Bs is not that many and As are very slim from what i here. BUT everyone that takes it gets a 4 or a 5 on the exam…

I think i could successfully self study AP World, but if i did fail the exam , my gpa wouldn’t be affected and the exam wouldn’t cost me anything. Where as Euro my gpa would be raped worse. Its pretty much a balancing act now

Even if you get, say a B in Euro and pass the exam, colleges look at that on a brighter light that if you had gotten an A in World History Honors. In all, I guess it comes down to, do you think you can get a B – or even a C if you stretch it a bit –*in Euro? Or do you feel more confident that you’ll pass the self-studied AP World?

You make a good point, I could probably manage a B or A if I take it REALLY seriously.
Compared to Self Studying where I’d have to be equally or more dedicated to studying etc to pass the exam.
I’m just worried about what Euro would to do to my other grades ( Chem H, Alg 2 H, Ap psych)

Im taking AP euro and even though history is my least favorite subject, I came to like it A LOT! No lie though the class is a lot, it covers a lot of history, meaning it’s at a very fast rate, so keeping up with the class is really overwhelming but it’s not too difficult since the course was really interesting. So if you don’t like history…I dot recommend taking it, cause then you might not get an A.

Good luck! :D

So would you think colleges would rather see me get a B or High C in Euro
rather than an A in World History H?

^ Well, what do you want to major in? If your major has to do with history & such, I would recommend you to take AP euro. If not then I would take World History Honors, so your GPA and class rank wouldn’t suck. Also you don’t have to take the AP class to take the test so if you think you’ve throughly covered the European history in your World His. then you can take the AP exam & possibly get college credits for it. Self-study yourself so you’d be familiar with FRQ’s & DBQ’s, buy the prep book would be your best bet.

I hope that helped :D

Well right now i want to be a surgeon.
But i can’t just rely on whatever i chose this year to become (freshman)
even though its unlikely i’ll change my mind. But i want to try everything, and if i don’t take Euro im taking APUS for sure so i’ll probably do bad in that if i have 0 AP exp beforehand
