do we have to send each of the colleges an AP score report? they're $15 each and i think it's a waste of money. is self-reporting on the commonapp all i need to do?

You don’t need to send a score report until you are accepted to the school you’re going to go to next fall. If the school takes ap credits, then you send them a score report over the summer when the ap scores come out in july. For now, self reporting is fine.

My kids only self-reported scores until they were accepted. Then they sent an official report to the school they attended - in order to receive “credit”.

Is this the same case for all or most schools?

Schools don’t usually need to verify AP scores until you want credit. College Board, however, would love it if you want to send scores to all of the schools you apply to.

Self-reporting of AP scores is standard for applications. You send a follow-up report after accepting a school so it can use your scores for credit or placement.
