HELP! Applying for Financial Aid= lower chance? .... esp. to IVY league

<p>I heard from some ppl that its not true
but...
one of my friend (who's applying to 18 colleges --- so I guess his information is pretty reliable.... and he's smart) told me that if two ppl have similar stats, they would rather pick somebody who does not need financial aid than one who does. is this true.....??? It'd be great if i could get some financial aid but if that lowers my chance of even getting in.... hmmmmm.... i dont know.</p>

<p>SAT: (690v/800m old) (650c,800m,650w)<br>
( Hopefully the fact that i came to US in 8th grade will help....... My reading and writing scores are pretty bad!)
SAT IIs: 790 math IIC, 770 Chem, 710 physics.
Rank: 1/333 weighted and unweighted
EC: president of National Art Honor Society, Pres. of Asian Awareness Club, Secretary of Future Business Leaders of America, Member of National Honor Society, SGA Parliamentarian, Leader of church praise team.. (math team, make a wish..) blah..
Award: Some art awards ( Art scholarship from county, 2 state awards) , school nominee of NHS scholarship, Principals honor roll.... blah...
!!!! no academic regional/state/national/international award..! =( Why do ppl have so manyyyy??? !!!!!
Hook?: i dont know... low income..and i'm sending art slides...? (they are pretty damn good.) Is anyone else sending music cds, slides, or whatever.. too? </p>

<p>I guess if my stats were perfect then i would have no problem applying to financial aid. but since they arent, maybe id be better off not doing it...? </p>

<p>o, plus i'm a permanent resident (Asian female!! ....o lord,.. why are other asians stats so excellent? I dont understand. they all have 2380 sat... bunch of APs.... so many researches i dont even know..) </p>

<p>Ivies are need-blind, so according to that they won't take your financial need into consideration. </p>

<p>But I suggest you search for "strategic admissions". There have been many posts on CC, especially in the parent's forum about that recently.</p>

<p>my friend got in who is 16/410 with low 700s accorss the board (M,CR,W, IC, Biology)</p>

<p>he got in harvard and yale. He was a legacy at yale though, and his dad makes about a half a million dollars a year</p>
