I've been admitted at a UC but for personal reasons, withdrawn for the academic year. My academic adviser has told me I could take classes for my major at a CC (but NOT for my GE as they've changed it) & to apply for readmission by April first.

Since I'll only be able to attend the CC for the Spring 2011 quarter*, I had a few questions about enrollment:

Upon returning to the UC, would I be regarded as a freshman or a transfer student?
Freshman get to move-in a week with a "welcome week". This would be so helpful because I missed-out on a lot this year.. I have a big feeling that this varies between colleges.

For using Assist.org, is it okay if the articulation agreement is from 09-10?

Do I need to tell the CC that I've been admitted to a UC, or would they not care?
The UC requires students to send official transcripts of any course work at another institution by the end of the quarter of our return. But I'm not sure if all CCs are okay with students like me.

I plan on returning to the UC in Fall 2011, if they accept my readmission application.

NOOOOO!!! WAIT! Confirm with the UC’s admissions first whether or not they’ll take you as a lower division transfer - many campuses WILL NOT do this. There’s a sort of policy that if you so much as fart in a community college (take classes during HS) you’re totally DQ’d as a freshman and have to get 60 units to transfer.

That MAY not be the case, but it really seems to end up that way. Be careful!

Readmission is a little screwy because the college dean makes the decisions on those, not the admissions office. There are not a lot of written rules about conditions of readmission (unlike general admissions). You need to work out a plan with your academic advisor, preferably in writing, with his/her signature on it to cover all your bases. If anything changes, consult your academic advisor on how to revise your plan and stay on track.

If you are accepted for readmission, you will be a “returning” student and that is how the housing office will treat you in terms of your move-in date.

To work out a plan with my academic adviser, would I contact her via Mail or E-Mail?

My academic adviser told me to look at: ( [Student Advising - Readmission](Readmission) ), print out the forms, and submit them by the April 1st priority deadline. She didn’t really say anything else except that I could take community college classes and such.

I would really like to be admitted as a freshman again if-possible (brand new start). Other than contacting my academic adviser with these questions, should I also contact UC admissions?
