Help...architecure related

Ok I need some help, I’m extremely knew here so I don’t even know if anyone can help…I am an international student who wrote the sat on December 3rd where I got a score of 2020 (critical reading – 730, mathematical reasoning- 670 and writing skills – 620). I am interested in pursuing a degree in architecture. Unfortunately I don’t really have any money to pay for college especially with the exchange rate. Neither do I have a portfolio. Neither do I have any SAT II subject…I do however have ordinary level subjects….all one’s. (Caribbean Examination Council) So I was just wondering with my scores and lack of portfolio etc what are the best schools accredited by the NAAB that I can apply to anywhere in the united states that will offer me a full scholarship or has a need blind admission policy. Should I try and rush a portfolio before deadlines? Thank you.

p.s. I’m applying to Pratt and RISD…what are my chances??

or if push comes to shove where is the best schools i can apply for civil engineering or urban and regional planning that will give me a full scholarship and then do my M. arch after

hey rhett, I applied for arch. and was accepted at USC, IIT, NEU, WashU, etc last year, but i decided on a gap year, and decided to change my major....then i had 1420sat, 730/730/740 on sat2's...i had finished successfully my country's school leaving exams [WASSCE]. my pf was horrible, cos i rushed it for the deadlines....i spent the following year taking a-levels, working on the pf, but just realised later this fall, i'd be better in a lib.arts/eng setting - retook sat - 2180, and 800/770/710/660 in sat2s, but no more arch. for me.

as an intl, i understand your situation, especially about the portfolio issue - you obviously need one...but on reading your post, i think you just need to calm down, and weigh very carefully all your options. first RISD doesn't give any aid to intls. second, scholarships are highly competitive, and even more so for professional programs.

candidly, i would advise you to take a year off. work hard on the pf, take the a-level or some other advanced courses, and the subject tests, and search carefully for your match schools...

don't get me wrong: your o-level results are splendid, perfect!! [i got a mixture of 1s, 2's and 3's], your CR score is excellent, but you could raise up your math/writing a bit. i don't know much about you, background and opportunities, but you're sounding too desperate. just calm down a bit.

does "Pratt" mean the art/sci college at Duke?

you can get into any arch program, but if you're thinking fall 06, i'll advise you to rush in a pf at all costs, good or bad. however, PASSION is the most important factor here, essays and all...but i don't know about full scholarship...

seriously, if you can wait and set yourself up over time, it'll all be much better
