help...architecure related

Ok I need some help, I’m extremely knew here so I don’t even know if anyone can help…I am an international student who wrote the sat on December 3rd where I got a score of 2020 (critical reading – 730, mathematical reasoning- 670 and writing skills – 620). I am interested in pursuing a degree in architecture. Unfortunately I don’t really have any money to pay for college especially with the exchange rate. Neither do I have a portfolio. Neither do I have any SAT II subject…I do however have ordinary level subjects….all one’s. (Caribbean Examination Council) So I was just wondering with my scores and lack of portfolio etc what are the best schools accredited by the NAAB that I can apply to anywhere in the united states that will offer me a full scholarship or has a need blind admission policy. Should I try and rush a portfolio before deadlines? Thank you.

p.s. I’m applying to Pratt and RISD…what are my chances??

or if push comes to shove where is the best schools i can apply for civil engineering or urban and regional planning that will give me a full scholarship and then do my M. arch after ??

I would suggest you do a search here on CC for architecture, there is a huge thread for people interested in architecture .

I don't think I'm that qualified to give advice, but without SAT II scores you are essentially eliminated from many top schools that offer architecture or civil engineering.

I am also pretty sure that for many undergrad arch. programs you do need a portfolio. I wouldn't just "scrape" together a portfolio just to have one, especially if it would end up being substandard. That would not work in your favor.

You should search for schools that offer good merit scholarships. There are only a few schools that are need blind for internationals and like I said previously without SAT II scores you are not eligible- they require several.

Pratt offers limited financial aid to international students, merit aid based on submission of portfolio.

RISD requires a portfolio also. I don't know about their financial aid.

You might look into:

Wentworth Institute of Technology, in Boston, MA
Roger Williams University in Rhode Island
Northeastern University in Boston, MA

You probably don't want to hear this, but perhaps you need to work for a year, maybe (paid) intern in an architecture office. I don't know what experience or skills you have, but it seems that you also need to put together a portfolio. Wherever your talents lie, put them to use. I'm a little baffled as to your interest in architecture if you don't have any creative work. If possible, take some kind of course: drawing, photography, even autocad - to help you jumpstart your skills and begin your portfolio.
