Help! are the chances of me getting into a good college hopeless?

Year: Junior (Winter Break)
GPA: 3.0 or 3.1?
SAT: expecting anything higher than a 2100. took lots of practice tests! highest score was a 2330 and lowest a 2070
classes this year:
H US, AP Music Theory, AP English, French 2, Math Analysis, AP Psychology (First semester GPA: 3.5 unweighted 4.0 weighted :/, hopefully higher next semester
So, let's start off by saying i know my GPA is disgustingly low. Freshman and Sophomore year i think i was legally retarded. I took no honors classes, and needless to say no AP's, and got B's and C's in regular classes. I've done like no EC's. I recently started writing for the school newspaper, but i don't know. i'm not good at sports, music is kind of my thing but our music program already has some amazing musicians...and i hate performing in front of my people. Anyways, I want to major in English/Literature and become and English teacher. I LOVE reading and writing however i'm fearful as to how my chances are for getting into a good college. I live in California and i don't think i have a choice on leaving the state, and i don't want to anyway. I know I'll get a high SAT, (I plan on taking it multiple times if i have to, i won't get accept anything less than a 2100-2200) and any other tests I take, but don't know if that's enough to outweigh my GPA. By the time i get to my senior year I hope to increase my GPA but it still won't be high enough. :/ I really was screwing up, but I'm a very smart guy.

So, to conclude, my situation's pretty effed up but I don't want to go to a bad college! Recommendations? Colleges that take people like me but are still good? Can I improve by the time i start applying?
Also, I'm hispanic if that helps.

comme onnnn

wuts ur high school U.W g.p.a in total and class rank?

im pretty sure u can get into some UC’s if you show an upward trend and dont quote me on this but lets say you get straight A’s from now on… you can get into UCLA, Berkeley and maybe some other schools among that range

Take a lot of rigorous courses and get great grades in them. The upward trend will help. Also, your GPA is not disgustingly low, just below average, but you can improve it! You have good chances of getting into a good college if you just up your game and get back on track!

Thanks everyone. That definitely boosted my self-esteem.
BTW i don’t know my class rank, but I go to a pretty competitive hs (it’s a magnet hs), everyone I know there is crazy smart (also it doesn’t help that there’s about a thousand Asians in my school) with 4.0’s or high 3’s. so my class rank isn’t gonna be pretty.

1000 Asians in your school? OK, you’re in CA.

Remember the UCs don’t count freshman year grades. If you continue your upward trend, you are strong for all the UCs other than Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD.

You will be a match/reach for Santa Barbara, Irvine, Davis, a match for UCSC, and a Safety for Riverside and Merced. All except Merced are ranked in the USNWR top 100.

P.S. there is NOTHING wrong with community college first, then transferring into UCLA or Berkeley. Many very smart students for financial reasons set this plan into motion in the middle of high school, and not as a last resort.
