HELP! Asking for more aid.

I've looked through a few other threads about this, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to post my own. I really need advice.

So, I've been accepted to every school I applied to so far. I really, really didn't expect this, and now I'm extremely confused by so many options. Not that I'm not happy to have them, I'm just very stressed...

I got a 12k scholarship from Bucknell. It's not a tremendous amount, but it'll lower what my family has to pay to just under 20k. I'm extremely happy that I got this, but I'm just not sure I want to go there...

I've also gotten into Middlebury and Kenyon. I prefer both of these schools to Bucknell, I think. But with Kenyon, my family would have to pay 24, and Middlebury, 28 (!!). My father says that, he could pay at most 25ish... but I know that's a stretch..

I still have to send 2008 tax information to both of these schools, since my father couldn't file them earlier. I'm hoping that this will help to lower the price slightly, but my dad's not very hopeful. So, I'm thinking of sending a personal message along with them. I'll offer to do as much work study as possible, and explain how much I would like to attend.

Has anyone done this before? Has it worked?? Help??

Is the 12k scholarship from B merit or need based? If it’s a merit scholarship, it’s unlikely that the other schools will match with need based FA. If it’s need based, it’s possible that K will match the FA offer since they are peer schools; M however is a higher ranked school and so is less likely to match B.

It never hurts to ask!

Thanks for your post. It’s merit based. And I really hope Kenyon gives me more. I was invited to a special program for multicultural applicants too, and we met all of the admissions staff. So maybe I’ll send a personal letter to one of them…

Has anyone done this before?? I’m definitely going to try anyway, but I’d love to know of anyone who already has.
