I'm actually a current freshman at Boston College. I chose here on a whim over much more prestigious schools that I was accepted to last year, and I'm thinking about transferring out. Last year I just didn't really know what I wanted in a college, and I still don't have it all figured out, but I know it's not BC.
I'd want a school with more unity and friendliness, a smaller student body, a confined campus (definitely not right in a city), an open or unified social scene, a slightly more intellectual feel (I don't need much, but I haven't had an intellectual discussion outside of class once all year), and a warmer climate isn't necessary but is preferable. The main problem is I just don't feel at home. BC is not a very 'warm and fuzzy', 'lets all be friends' kind of place, and it's just not the environment I want. Any ideas about what schools I should look into?
I have a 3.9 gpa first semester, and I had excellent high school grades, ecs, and sats (2360/2400). I have good ecs and could get very good recommendations. Right now I'm looking to build a list, not necessarily focus on my chances of acceptance yet.
Thanks!

Are you no longer interested in the other schools where you had acceptances?

Well some of them I might still consider, but I’d still have to apply again as a transfer student, right?
I figured I should reevaluate my list as a whole and then decide if I want to still think about the schools I originally applied to

Yes, of course you would have to apply as a transfer.

I find it hard to respond to your criteria - “warm and fuzzy”, “unity and friendliness”, “open and unified social scene” and “Intellectual” are awfully subjective and amorphous. Smaller student body, non-urban and defined campus are easier to grasp… but there are an awfully lot of schools which meet those criteria.

Your stats qualify you for pretty much anywhere.

Some place like Swarthmore maybe?

bumpppppppppppppppppppp

anyone else have suggestions?

Where did you turn down? Isn’t BC confined in a campus in Chestnut Hill, MA with a lot of school spirit, and kind of small?

Try Bowdoin, Wesleyan, Vassar, Haverford, Davidson.
