HELP!!! Can I get in with a 3.96 UW GPA but a 1700 (CR+M+W) SAT?

Hey guys!

I need your honest opinions! I'm an International Student from Southeast Asia applying to CAS (2nd choice: Gallatin). I was deffo a great student at school, got amazing scores (3.96 UW), BUT I just received my SATs today and it COMPLETELY bogged me down… 1700 (M+CR+W) and 1190 (M+CR). I'm just the worst with standardized test scores.

Do you HONESTLY think I’ll be accepted to CAS or Gallatin? Thank you so so much!

To be honest, I would not be optimistic. While your GPA is strong, it could be because your school gives out easier grades or smth. One reason standardized tests are so important is that EVERYONE gets scaled on the same curve, so there is less room for doubt.

If NYU takes in January SAT scores, I would seriously consider retaking. That being said, your EC’s look good as well, so don’t be afraid to apply :)

Yeah 1700 is way too low for NYU, sorry. I think it’s unheard of for them to accept a person with a 1700 since they’re not really incentivized to recruit. Try to retake it if you can. Otherwise they’re just going to suspect your school has grade inflation and that will devalue your GPA.
