I want to apply for Rutgers New Brunswick for the Arts and Sciences but I'm not sure what my chances are to getting in.

I will also be applying to Newark and Camden if I don't get accepted to New Brunswick I will try again after year after year to get into the New Brunswick Campus.

Anyways my GPA is 2.4 and my SAT score is 1800. I have potential to get a higher SAT score which I'm going to take the SAT on December 3rd, 2011. I'm trying to get 2000 or over.

What are my chances of getting in Rutgers?

I have a house in New Jersey does that mean I would count as an in-state residence?

I graduated in New York, Manhasset though, will I be counted as out-of-state since I graduated in a different state?

Thank you everyone,

Regards,

P.S. Is there any options I can take to have a better chance getting into Rutgers New Brunswick?

This is also my primary choice, to be honest, I don't want to go to any other college.

Unless your an emancipated minor and provide all of you support yourself, in most cases you would still be considered to be a dependent most likely on your parents tax return until age 21. Even if they don’t claim you there is an additional test and that is the amount of support they provide for you which determines if you are truly on your own. What state are your parents residents of? If divorced that brings up other determining issues. Your parents can’t just switch if they are residents of New York and have a summer home etc. in New Jersey- there are time stipulations for determining if one is a resident of a particular state. Get with your parents and discuss it.

have your parents filed an income tax return for the state of nj in the past 12 months? if not then i don’t think you count for nj in state tuition. :

i believe you have a reasonable chance of getting in though since you’re coming from an out of state school your chances are lowered because RU does highly favor in state kids.

I had a 2.6 and 1950 on my SATs. I got weight listed and then eventually denied. The thing that irk me is that they waited 3 months to tell me that I was denied after being weight listed. However, I’m trying to transfer from Rowan with a ~3.2-3.4 GPA. Anyone know my chances? I heard that a 3.0 is solid for transferring

i would say with your GPA you will not get in. How many honors and AP classes did you take? AS of now your SAT score is good but not enough to overcome your low gpa. You will probably get into camdem or newark because of your SAT score but I cannot promise anything.
