Help! Can the "pre-filled out" school ACT forms be changed to NOT send scores to colleges?

I’ll try not to be too confusing here:

My D is taking the ACT in school (provided by the school) on Tuesday. They had the kids fill in some of the initial name/address kind of stuff on Thursday. My D was confused and thought she HAD to fill in colleges to send scores to, so she did. She’s done almost no practice and the scores she has gotten on practice tests are NOT good – definitely not in line with the PSAT. Will she be able to erase these when she goes in on Tuesday? If she doesn’t get this sheet back on Tuesday, I hope she can find out if they are at least still at the school and can be changed.

On a related note – will the scores for this ACT show up on her transcript? She took the PSAT through her school in the fall and that doesn’t seem to be on the current transcript, but I’m not sure if it’s different for the ACT or if these items are only put on at the end of senior year.

I would call the counseling office Monday morning and ask both questions. Both will depend on your school’s policies. I would think the first one would be easy to fix.

I agree. I would ask the counseling office on Monday for both questions.

Did you check your older DD’s transcript to see if ACT score is shown there?

I found this
https://www.fairviewhs.org/counseling/college-applications/test-information/sat-act
under FAQ: NEW: What is the state-sponsored ACT/SAT administered to all juniors in April?.

I don’t know if our school (not Fairview HS) would do this but we will ask them if DS scores higher later.

My D took the SAT in school last month and they also did the pre-bubbling in advance. We had the opposite problem where she did not indicate she wanted her scores sent to her colleges. We had 8 days to go online to add OR CHANGE who received her scores. Worst case if you cannot delete you could change to a couple of state U’s.

The trick is to make sure the school registered testing gets added to your online CB account.

There is some information on the ACT site, see http://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/help.html ,and open the question “How can I add/change my college choices or correct my high school code?” Read the last couple lines which state that for any state mandated test, changes to your college list cannot be made after you hand your answer folder to the test administrator on the test date. That would indicate you have to make the change by tomorrow morning.

As to whether your high school will put the scores on the transcript sent to colleges depends on high school. Many do but many do not. You should specifically ask the high school what it does and do not just rely on reviewing the usual semester transcript you receive to see if the scores are absent, because the high school may include information on the full transcript sent to colleges that does not appear on the semester transcript.

Ah, I forgot about my own thread! But thanks to all for answering. I’ve now done my part in case a future parent comes along and searches for the same question…

I ended up deciding I was just over-reacting. Probably because I couldn’t get ACT’s website to cooperate without much regard to whether I was actually over-reacting. I think things turned out fine. D’s score (higher than expected – yay!) ended up right in the middle percentage for the most selective school she had on there. D and I learned our lesson though and she chose her less selective schools for the June SAT free scores

@payn4ward, yep we had a meeting with the GC and she said that only the best ACT shows on the transcript. Relief all around.
