HELP !can you change major after submitting application

can you change your major after submitting application? I want to go to UCD and I applied as a nutrition major but I want to change it to human development. Anyone know if its too late? I called admissions in November and they said to wait until I got the email confirmation, but I have no idea where to go now to do it!

You have to mail UCD Office of Admissions with your application number (which would be found in your e-mail confirmation), name, address, DOB, SSN, and the major you want to change it to.

If I have this same problem of wanting to change my major choice even though I already submitted my application but for UCLA does anyone know how I would go about fixing that? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Meyer

sophie24, you should be able to send a message through UCD’s myAdmissions portal once you sign up with your UC Application ID: http://myadmissions.ucdavis.edu/</a></p>

meyersg, follow the instructions at [Reporting Changes - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/applicant/changes.htm), scroll down to Changing your Major.

@MsSun: but doesn’t ucla read our personal statement? What’s the point of changing major if they read our essays about our major that we already chose? I also want to change my major at ucla… So I’m very curious

what if I have tag, with UCD, but I want to change my major. Will they allow this?

I have the absolute exactly identical question as Plasmolyze!!!

is there any way to change my major for Cal? I selected the wrong major and my personal statement doesn’t discuss the current major. Should I just cancel my application to Cal then?

where can I go to do this for UCB?

^ for UCB they accept by college, so whatever your major is, say, if it’s in College of Letters and Science, they will accept you to that specific college rather than the major on your application. I believe at the student orientation you’ll be able to discuss/declare major your major with advisors, etc.

@berkeleyphil, not all UCs use the personal statement for admission evaluation, but UCLA does. So a change of major may not be a good idea for you, especially since UCLA transfer admission is major-specific (each applicant is evaluated specifically for the major applied).

@Plasmolyze, TAG usually guarantees campus and not major, so a change of major shouldn’t be a problem. You should call the admissions office at the UC where you want to change major to find out what the process is.

@360atoms, you need to “correct” your major with Cal. Call the admissions office to find out how to do that.

@Plasmolyze - I emailed my advisor at UCI to see what impact a change of major would have on my admission evaluation and I was told it would cancel the TAG if it is changed to a major other than the one I was approved for. He recommended that I wait to change my major until transfer orientation when it wouldn’t jeopardize my admission.
