Seriously??.......i swear my school guidance counslers suck! they have always told me that i'd have to transfer for medical school

One thing the OP should consider though is she might get much better grades at UNCG. If that is the case it might actually work out to go there, especially for med school. UNC-CH is notoriously bad with grade deflation. It also depends on what kind of med school you want to go to. If its ANY med school, UNCG might be a better option, but for the top med schools UNC-CH is the ticket.

UNC is pretty amazing though. One night isnt going to predict what 4 years will be like. also, there are many many different scenes there. You're lucky to have such a good school in-state.

Well i want to go to medical school in state, so that would pretty much leaves me with UNC, Wake and Duke. So i dont know how high up those are on the medical school list, but I really want to stay in NC.

also has a medical school. It wants applicants who will stay in Eastern NC and are interested in general or family practice.

Oh yeah i forgot about ECU....

but how does ecu, wake, duke and unc rank in the medical field list?
Are they like top and require an excellent undergraduate degree or will they take undergraduates from smaller, and less popular schools?

Duke is by far the best of the group, but Wake and UNC are still amazingly top notch.

As for who they take, it works like this: They WILL take people from UNCG, but only a few. They will take many many more from UNC-CH. If you can shine at UNCG with a crazy high GPA you can go anywhere, but you dont need as much from UNC-CH. Then again, that GPA might be harder to get than a crazy high one at UNCG.

I would usually give my opinion but what is UNCG? Is it greensboro?

I know a lot of people that go to uncg and i feel that i can get a really high gpa there from what they tell me.

yes it's the university of north carolina greensboro

I like greensboro. obviously not as good as unc, but finding a fit is so important, and simply being admitted at a large state university (or anywhere else for that matter) doesn't means its the best place for you and you should only consider academics. It's not the small details, but the big picture that matters

I'm guessin i'd have a better job if I went to college at unc

UNC is an awesome school..

UNCG is pretty low ranked and it doesnt have anything that UNC doesnt have

go to UNC!! great social life + great academics + good bball team

thanks yall

So am I pretty much guaranteed a better job if I go to school at UNC instead of UNCG, even though Im 99% sure Id make better grades at UNCG??

Its sort of a game. The TOP employers wont go to UNC-G, but will come to UNC-CH. But they wont take you unless you have a 3.5+. So basically if its between a 3.5 at UNCG and a 3.0 at UNC I would go with UNC-G. But if its a 3.9 at UNCG vs a 3.6 at UNC I would go with UNC.

thanks slipper you have been very helpful :)
