Help! Can't get higher than 33

I have tried for several months now, so I raised my score from 29 to 33.

However, it just won't go higher anymore. It has been 33 for few months.

I pretty much bought and went through every single books out there for ACT prep.

I especially struggle Reading part. An it is totally odd, since I read for fun. I am one of those homies who just love to stay inside with a good book and comfortable couch.

So "Read a lot" doesn't help me much.

I really, honestly, want 36.

What can I do to improve my score other than buying prep books and reading diverse sources?

HELP!!!

I’m working on improving my reading score too. I got 36/35 on all of the other sections when I took it, but did really poorly on reading (28). What has helped me so far, has been to do a bunch of sections with unlimited time, and circle key words (to help me parse back through the text when I see the questions), and then transitioning to doing the passages with 8 mins 30 seconds each. Let me know if you have anything that has worked for you too…

Yeah I’m doing the same exact thing as you for reading, and I’ve found that not only have my scores significantly improved after only two practice tests (it went up 10 points from a 26 to a 36, and yes, a perfect score), but also, I’m subconsciously going a little faster each time.

The first time I tried doing the reading without a time limit, I went 15 minutes over, and got a 33. The second time, I went 10 minutes over and got a 36. For this strategy to work, you have to take tons and tons of practice tests.

I luckily have extra time, so time isn’t an issue for me, but I wish you the best of luck.

when i took the act the 1st time, i got a 33 or 34, cant remember. 2nd time, got a 36. did nothing different. maybe you’ll get lucky like i did

Same here! I do poorly in Writing and Math (although the science curve kills me… I only miss 2 but get a 32 :frowning: ) Any tips?
Thanks!

well depending on which scale your using, the science score will differ. typically if you miss 2 it should be within 33-34. As tips for science i recommend quickly skimming the intro then jump straight into the questions. Just anaylize the graphs and for conflicting views just read carefully each scientist’s argument
