Help! Canuck with only one month for PSAT prep

Hey, I'm a Canadian, a junior in high school, and I have one month for PSAT prep. That's it.

Now, is there anyone on this board whose benevolence will overlook the fact that I should have started preparations much earlier than I have, and provide me, to the best of your ability, with the resources and knowledge that will have me achieve to the best of mine? On the PSAT, that is.

The PSAT is a shorter version of the SAT.

1) Read Xiggi’s recommendations on prepping for the SAT

2) Purchase the Official Guide and start practicing.

If you put in a few hours a week starting now, you’ll be reasonably well-prepared.

Would you recommend hiring a tutor for the duration of the month to become more than just reasonably well-prepared?

No. Disciplined self-study should be sufficient. If you want to be more than “reasonably well-prepared”, put more hours into a Xiggi-guided routine.

You’d pay hundreds of dollars for a test that gives a meager 2500 dollar scholarship? Be realistic…

…just read a few books and do some practice tests.

^^ Your post gives me the idea that the residual benefits don’t exceed a 2500 dollar scholarship, forgive me if I am wrong, but would this imply that the PSAT’s do not weigh significantly on your University applications?

yeah…the PSAT is pretty easy in comparison to the actual SAT.
Follow the advice Descartez gave and you should be fine. Oh and also buy the previously released PSATs on the collegeboard store.

PSAT’s pretty useless. National Merit Semifinalist/Finalist looks good, but it’s not going to make or break your application.
