I've been accepted to all with similar financial aid packages. I'm pre-med. Where should I go?

Go to the one that feels like the best, most comfortable fit for you, since they all cost the same.

Look up Med school acceptance rates for each school and see if anything sticks out.

If you still can't decide on that basis, go to the one you'll wish you went to if Med School doesn't pan out (since so many start out in PreMed but far fewer end up actually in Med School).

dartmouth ..,

swimmerkp - WS17 is right, most students don't continue with their intended major so check out each school to make sure they have a good variety of classes you are interested in. Also, check out the areas surrounding the campuses, size of campus, etc.

I would really recommend visiting all of them and then decide where you are most comfortable. Good luck.

If you want to be a doctor, I recommend Case Western Reserve. First Case Western Reserve is in Cleaveland, 10-15 minutes away for the 2nd great hospital Cleaveland Clinic "(1st is Mayo CLinic in Minnesota btw) and 1st for cardiology, cardiovascular, etc... It is also near University Hospital which amazingly is another top hospital in the country. They were the hospital to operate on Christophers Reeves os he would breathe on his own again, amazing facilities. Medical research wise, Case tops all the universities you listed.

Now pre-med, why would you want to go to schools that are know for there arts and not their sciences? Darthmouth and Notre Dame don't rank there science programs even in the top 40 if there lucky. Emory ranks top 20, but Case ranks nearly top 10 in most of its science programs- 3 rde best bioenginerring in the country. Also consider location- Darthmouth is somewhere is lonely New Hamphsite, and Notre Dame is near middle of no where though beautiful campus I heard. Emory is in Atlanta, nice city, not bad. Cleaveland- little Italy, museums, sports arena, cultural centers, you name it, its there.

Now if you want med school chances, Case tops them all. Darthmouth says they have a 98% chance of getting into med school. Don't be foolish to see this percentage and say wow! Their pre-med board does not allow all of there students to apply and if your a mediocre student, the possibility is not that great.. So they will tell you to reapply next year so they don't have to consider you part of the current year. Same thing with Notre Dame and Emory. Case allows all apply and they have a 85% chance, all students, which is amazing. If you want to go to great med school, Case ranks better than all the med schools- Darthmouth and Emory. Notre Dame doesn't even have a med school.

Research wise, you may not get a research spot in Dartmouht, might be filled with seniors and juniors. Same with most of the ivies, I trutjfully don't know about Emory nor Notre Dame. In Case you get a guaranteed reasearch spot, you just have to ask professors and they encourage you to. Medical research, sports, social life, setting, medical (pre-med academics)... I would rank it above all the school you listed. This is not a biast opinion, I am going to University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Good luck !

i thought according to USNews Emory's med school is ranked higher than Case's. also, are you sure the social life at case is better than at Emory's?

Anyways, swamifez is correct in saying that Case does accept a ridiculous number of its students into its med school even though they're not on the preprofessional track.

According to USNews this year, http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/grad/rankings/med/brief/mdrrank_brief.php... Case and Emory are both ranked 20, Case though put on the top. In the last couple of years, Case's med school always topped Emory. Med schools that went up this year included Chicago and UC-San Diego. I would rank Case's social life a little better than Emory'sm, that is correct. Emory is a great school though, and from the list, I would be choosing between Case and Emory. Good Luck and let us know :)

that changed a lot from a month ago.

Emory was 19.
U of C was 23.
Case was 24.

the point is they're pretty similar (not large enough to matter)

and the only reason Case is before Emory, is because Case starts with a C.

but in primary care, Case beats them all.
