I had about the same GPA as you did, I think maybe a 90 UW, however, I have to start off by saying that majoring in Economics in Stern and majoring in economics in CAS are two very different things. Stern is more pre-professional, while CAS is more liberal arts. I am currently majoring in Stern in Economics but definitely want to take classes in CAS to make sure I still get a well rounded education in liberal arts. I eventually aspire to become an actuarial scientist. Anyways if you want to recieve a liberal arts education then go for CAS, if you want less liberal arts and more professional, then go for Stern. I know most people might argue with me here, but I strongly believe that both CAS Economics and Stern Economics are not very far appart, if not even the same in prestige and honor especially when applying for jobs. Many people on this website believe that just by being in Stern you can receive a great internship and then a great job after four years, but this is a misconception. In all honesty, getting a job depends on the individual and NOT the institution - to a certain degree. Overall, you have a good chance, and Brooklyn Techincal school in New York City is basically the top public school in the nation, so you have a fair shot. Check my previous threads for my resume as a reference. If you are dying to get into NYU, as many people are as it is the number one dream school, then apply ED into CAS economics and you can try and transfer into Stern, although it is impossible so never count that as an option. If you get into CAS Economics you will NOT be hindered as much as many people think on CC. My cousin was LSP’d for CAS Econ, and now he earns 200,000+ in CT working for a hedge fund company ( which literally went bankrupt, I know bad example, but it was my only one lol). Let me say this again so that all of the people on CC’s NYU board can read; NYU CAS Econ does not put you at a disadvantage!! It is the individual who must do the work, the institution does not help ( to a certain degree) in finding you a a suitable metier.

Thankyou on your insight. It has really help me with my decision. I am leaning towards cas ATM. Given the fact that stern is so competitive, I took into consideration when you said it is Many people’s dream school it certainly is mine.
Do you think I have a better chance for cas? Cuz I’m thinking with 5000 more seats in thatschool as well as lsp.
Again thank you so much, sorry my wording is not good. Typing on the iPhone.

Yeah, you will probably get rejected from Stern even if you do ED, but who really knows? You might get in. If you want to maximize your chances to get into NYU, go for ED CAS. Which is not THAT much lower than Stern. Many very qualified students who could have gotten accepted to Stern if they applied got into CAS. Just look on the accepted thread stats CAS.

Yeah, your are realy helpful. Do you think my chances are good regardless of the ed help?
Like I want to know if I stand good chance because I’m rally worried about my gpa.
Due to a bad start on my sophomore year.

even with ED, an 88 or 89 is kind of low for Stern.

The class rank and SAT I need to be brought up, even though ED is supposedly a joke…I would consider NOT applying ED and instead having on a stellar senior year with RD. Anyone else agree?

im not focusin on stern anymore, do you guys think i would be qualified for CAS ED? as well as LSP.
