Help, chance me and give me a school rec!

I'm an african american freshman at a Historically Black University currently looking to transfer for the Fall 2010 semester. My high school gpa was terrible at only a 2.5, for lack of effort.

So far my college resume looks like this:
27 ACT
3.7 gpa this semester with only about 17 credit hours, next semester will be 20 hours.
Freshman Senator on Student Government
Working a job with the state while in school
Leading a campus ministry
Hopefully some community service hours by the end of the year

The school I'm applying to so far are Yale, Cornell, NYU, Georgetown, and Northeastern. Im hoping an extremely good essay and letter of recommendation will help. I need one more as a safety school, any help? Please chance me for each individual school.
Thanks in advance!

If you’re a Freshmen they will still look at your high school stats
I’d say Yale is definitely out of the picture.
Cornell --HIGH reach
Georgetown --reach
NYU – reach/match (if not Stern)
Northeastern --match/safety

Good Luck!

Thanks, any recommendations for a safety school?
Any other help is welcome!

What exactly are you gonna major in?
What about American? It should be a safety for you.

My major is political science. American looks ok, anything more north? Or in California, my state of origin.

I really like Claremont McKenna College, is there any chance I could get in?

Bump, someone else chance me please

how about Xavier or USC for safety? u can get alot of financial aid for Xavier since u have above average grades and ur black. USC is good too and takes in alot of transfers.

^^ USC’s deadline was Feb 1st
I would say not to waste your money on Yale (probably hard to hear), as they take around 20 applicants each year. Because you’re a freshman, your high school stats will be weighted more heavily than if you applied as a freshman. You might consider University of Wisconsin - Madison (they have a well respected poli sci dept) or DePaul.
