Essays: I would like to think these are pretty strong >< but some of my other classmates wrote pretty DARN GOOD essays.

One essay was about my experience in school in China. I talked about how it made me more independent. It was a pretty strong essay (I hope).

The second essay was about how I wanted to explore the world outside my small city, and that made me want to apply to schools outside of southern california.

I also wrote a short paragraph noting that I had a reaaaally big drop in my GPA sophmore year (2.8 GPA) because after I came back from China, I wasn't really prepared to come back up to the standard of work that my home high school had. But in junior year, I really brought it up with straight A's (and 1 B)

Thanks a bunch for reading through all this!

Looks like a good shot to me.

Your SAT makes up for your lower GPA.

They don’t look at your AP Scores, so don’t worry about that.

SAT II’s look fine.

EC’s essays look good

Low Safety (Upward trend in GPA is great)
Honors: Match-Low Reach

I’m applying to UCI this year and my counselor told me only 100-150 get chosen for business at UCI, so I’d see it as a low reach for you only because of that. Also, UCI raised their GPA, but you have some good stats so you have a chance.

I’ve also heard that around 150 are chosen for the business major, but I was actually accepted into the major this fall quarter, and my stats were not stellar at all.

In addition, I know that there are more than 250 business admin majors in the current freshman class.

Although business admin is an impacted major, applying as that does not hurt your chances for getting INTO the school. You will just be sent to your alternative major.

loL, come on this isn’t Haas or Wharton… Plus, he goes to Troy (I think).

oh dang, howd you figure out that zairair :P

Wondering if someone here would help chance me too:
SD is probably my top choice

GPA was 2.83 W Freshman year(0 honors/0AP)
3.83 W Sophomore Year(1 honors/0AP)

GPA UW: 3.5
UC GPA: 3.79

SAT I:

Best by section: 730 math, 700 reading, 800 writing

falcon, you have a very very good shot at davis, irvine, and sb, and SD as well.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you made it into LA or Berk.

You said you did the Troy Tech Internship and it was something only your school did and I knew there was a good school out there named Troy and you mentioned it was pretty competitive high school. =)

I know the names of quite of a few SoCal high schools because I used to be really into math and math competitions and particular schools names always pop up, Troy, University, San Marino, North Hollywood, Arcadia etc.
