HELP: Chances and making the final decision :(

Hi.
So currently I was accepted into University of Maryland, College Park, Rutgers (SAS, SEBS, and Business), Drexel, and Temple.
I’m still waiting to hear back from BU, Lehigh, and Villanova, which are all reach schools for me.

I was extremely lucky. My gpa and sat is not really near UMD’s average profile.
and I really really want to go to UMD, but because I’m OOS, i’d have to pay $45000 a year…

My parents insist of me to go to the cheaper school, like Drexel (with scholarships).
But because I really want to have a great experience in college, and because UMD is such a big school and everything, I really want to go here.
And I am planning on solidly studying hard in college, unlike I what I did during high school.

Would money be worth it to go to UMD?
I’d have no financial aid at all to go to UMD.

Also, does anyone know if it is easy to change majors in UMD?
Am public health major, but want to change it to business or engineering (even though I know it will be difficult. Need help on this… should I request to change major before I commit? or after I go to college?)

Please give me any advice.
ANY advice!! Thank you.

You need to go to a college you can afford. Your parents are under no obligation to pay for the more expensive school. You can’t borrow enough to cover college by yourself, so without your parent’s cooperation you won’t be able to go to the expensive OOS school.

I would highly recommend Rutgers if it’s closer to your budget, because it offers a similar atmosphere to UMD without breaking the bank! Amazing school, great facilities, great community, party life, athletics, yet with a homey feeling with smaller campuses  best of both worlds in my opinion
