by the way.. what does "URM" mean? If im an asian american residing in CA..living with a single mom with low income ...does that make me underrepresented?

i dont really think you'll get in, below average chances, apply ed if u really want it, good luck re-taking the SATS, and no asian is not minorityq

lol Asian Americans from CA aren't underrepresented.

...ouch lol

bump pleasee

Seichong, since we're all Asian brothers here--I'm Chinese--I'm just gonna say that both you and I are very unlikely to be accepted into Cornell. Our stats are very similar and we think that our stats above average and yet when compared to the others on this forum, we see that we are not even close. It's sad, I know.

Same here. These are my stats. Boo...

Terrible! Just terrible! :(

Yes, just terrible! What happened to that 0.02 on your GPA? How could you not have a 4.0? And what about that SAT score? 760 on math and you call yourself an Asian? the shame...the shame...

:(...man im depressed LOL... are u guys all applying to CALS?

seicheong: you are a strong candidate but there are many strong candidates like you. if you write great essays and get good recommendations, I think you have an average shot. also, you say that you did poorly in your freshman year. what is the upward trend like? your chances will increase A LOT if you apply ED, but I do not suggest doing so if you are heavily dependent on financial aid.

Good luck!

will the adcom even notice my upward trend? its been going like this:

freshman 1st/2nd sem: 2.4/3.4
soph 1st/2nd: 3.5/3.6
junior 1st/2nd: 4.0/4.27
senior (hoping for 4.5ish)
soo..as you can see...if this was plotted on a graph..it would be having an upward trend ;)

well.. im not heavily dependent...ill do a loan and work if i have to.

im working on getting kickass teacher reccs, counselor reccs, exceptional employer recc, maybe another one (afraid adcom will get sick of the reccs)

im also working on writing exceptional essays, that will explain my improvement..and blah blahhh..

i might send in a recording of a solo piece on the violin and have one of the professors critique it for me and send it to the admissions office

soo..if my teacher rec, counselor rec, essays, and music submission are all top-notch, will it increase my chances? even a little bit?

I'm not sure how much submitting musical pieces would help you. There are other posters who are knowledgeable about such matters so hopefully they respond to this thread.

The upward trend is really good. Kick butt this senior year and you will have an average to above average shot.

should i send in my quarter report from my school if its all A's?.. im taking like 8 classes
