I applied for the Binghamton EOP program but i think that i am not academically eligible for it so i want to know what my chances are of getting in without the EOP program and just through regular admission. Please i would appreciate it a lot if anyone told me their opinions.
My GPA is a 90
My class rank is 99 out of 468
I have taken honors spanish, AP statistics, College level english and science
I am in a Students against destructive decisions for 4 years and this year i am an officer
Thank you if you commented

Sat/act? Oos?

lol sorry my SAT was:
Math- 600
Critical Reading- 570
Writing- 510

Don’t know much about EOP but, very unlikely without it.

thank you for letting me know

I wouldn’t listen entirely to what stage4survivor says. Your chances of getting in are not “very unlikely” (no offense to stage4survivor, though). I currently attend Binghamton and work for the university so I know a lot about it’s stats. Your GPA is solid - it’s not too low, so I would not be worried about that aspect of your application. Your advanced classes will help you but of course the more, the better. But you don’t have too few to bring you down. It is good to have an extracurricular (especially one with an officer position) but is this the only extracurricular you listed? EC’s are very important in the admissions process - Binghamton loves active students and wants to admit students who aren’t just brains, but will also “add something” to their community. The weakest point of your application is your SAT’s, but I wouldn’t say you’re definitely not getting in because of them- you’re still above the national average and not too far below what the university wants. Overall, I think you do have a shot at being accepted so don’t get your hopes down. But as with anything, don’t get your hopes too high up either. Hope this helped!

Very unlikely doesn’t mean impossible. However 1170 SAT and decent GPA for Bing makes it what? One in 20-25 likelihood w/o EOP?

Binghamton judges a lot more than just SAT’s, and just because the scores aren’t ideal doesn’t mean they have a low chance of acceptance. I actually go to Binghamton, and like I said, I work for the university too. I think I would know if they have a good chance or not, and I believe they do. They might not have as high of an SAT score as other people, but that doesn’t mean their chance of admission is very unlikely. Also, just to let you know, Bing takes the writing section of the SAT into account as well starting this year, so the score out of 2400 is what’s considered.

BUb,

Despite your illustrious credentials, if you honestly believe the OP has a “good” chance, I have a bridge that you might be interested in purchasing that connects Brooklyn to Manhattan.
Your appraisal of the OP’s chance is the most disingenuous I’ve seen on the Bing forum.
Puleeeeeeze!

Thank you everyone for commenting, i really appreciate it
@BUbearcat19 i was also in the drama club but due to my schools lack of fund, there was no transportation for a year. I am really happy that you let me commented, it made me a bit more hopeful. I come from a town where there is very few volunteer work and due to my family situation i was unable to join many clubs, i know i shouldn’t use this as an excuse but i really do regret no join more clubs

a541,

If there are extenuating or compelling personal/life experiences that you included in your essay, that could sway the decision.

stage4survivor, honestly you just come off as a cynical, angry and arrogant old man who likes putting down kids to feel good about yourself. either say something constructive or don’t post- you’re not helping anyone out

bp94,

In other words, no one wants an honest assessment? More entitlements cuz Johnny/Mary is a wonderful, bright kid that the fantasy should be perpetuated?
I would think any 17/18yo applying to Bing would have the intellect to realize 1-2 applicants out of every 14 is the reality. Do 12 or 13 need to be told to apply at safeties or matches?
My own prestigious HS had 14 accepted out of 131 applicants last year and many had better stats than most of the recent “chance me” posts here.
With rare exception, it’s STATS…numbers…ECs? everyone has them, is glee club better than band? Is HS baseball better than girls volleyball? Is 3 years hospital volunteer better than 3 years part time work for a family that needs the money?
If you don’t have a 98 UW GPA then your SAT better be 1250+++, if your GPA is 90 then your SAT better be 1350++
Why do you think there’s SAT cheating???

Stage4s the ratio is more like 2 out of every 5 is selected to join the BU community. (41% acceptance rate last year)

SD,

Yes, I’ve seen those numbers and they’re misleading because they don’t divulge the process at how they arrive at these numbers
They “claim” deferrals from EA are a large part but, does that mean they accept 8K EA and 1K accept? then, another 4K RD & deferred EAs to get another 1K?
2K total?
No one I personally know was accepted when deferred from EA last year.
I applied and was accepted RD

I am not sure what you are questioning, because it looks quite straight forward to me: last year 31,827 applied (total applicants) of those 41% were accepted, approx. 13,040 and then out of that pool 25% decided to enroll ending up with 3,260 freshmen. These are the facts I posted under “Interesting admissions facts” I do not see how deferred applicants change the total number, I certainly do not think they are counted twice.
