Help! Change College?

Hi guys,

I am an applicant for cornell 2015 (no likely letter) and i applied to the college of engineering. however, my intended major is environmental engineering and i saw on the website that CALS also has the environmental engineering. when i was doing my application i used the primary/alternate option but chose COE and CAS...and i have heard that those two are much harder to get into than CALS. i really want to be accepted but i am not sure if my stats are good enough either...and i havent received a liklely letter either.

help or advice please?

I honestly think it’s too late in the process… the decision comes out in like 10 days and you shouldn’t really change the college now. I don’t think they’ll consider you at this point.

IF you get accepted, then you could try to change your college.

consider me as in accept me?

I’m just guessing, but I think they mean that CALS wouldn’t consider you…they’ve already had everyone’s application for months.

btw, just because CALS in general has a higher acceptance rate, you need to remember (or know) that you apply to a specific major within CALS. you can’t really know the acceptance rate of the environmental engineering program within CALS, because they don’t break it down like that. I would bet that it’s pretty selective, because that’s a very appealing program in terms of quality, and it would draw not only a lot of the same applicants to apply to COE, but those who are generally interested in the environment and might enjoy being in the same college as majors such as natural resources or plant science.
at this point, the best you can do is just wait to see what happens with your current application.

They’ve most likely already accepted who they wanted to accept.

My ID doesn’t work anymore (to see the letter).
