help choose major for IB

Hi,

I am a freshman in NYU Stern, and apparently Stern is not among top-tier IB/Wall Street feeders. I hope I can get into IB/Consulting industry once graduate to pay off my education loans (will definitely move on to grad school after working for a couple of years).

That said, I think to secure a job is still the most important thing for me since, as I said, I hope to get a job right away after college. So, I'm thinking of the following majors/combinations of majors. Please give me your advice! Thanks in advance!

Finance only: maybe I can just concentrate on one thing and get somewhat desirable GPA

Accounting: job-wise, I heard accounting was stable and easy to get jobs.

Accounting + Finance

Finance + Math Major(in College of Arts and Science)

Finance + Math minor

Finance and Maths Major with a couple of courses in accounting.

1) Would statistics instead of math be OK?

2) Is learning MATLAB or some kind of computer programming useful for IB/PE types of job? It is probably useful in research while in college though.

3) Probably need excellent EXCEL skill.

Will a math minor do though? I am not a huge math person.
