HELP choosing a college!!

I’m really in need of some advice right now. I plan to go pre-med and major in chemistry or neuroscience (I was accepted as a chem major though). I honestly kinda hate all my options right now, and none of them are exciting me at the least. I’m currently deliberating between 3-4 colleges.

Case Western Reserve: cost is $29,000/yr and it’s an 8 hour drive. Easy to switch into neuroscience and is right next to the Cleveland Clinic, but I didn’t like the surrounding area or general lack of school spirit.

Villanova: cost is $23,000/yr and it’s a 2 hour drive. Harder to switch into the neuroscience program because I didn’t apply for it initially. I like villanova, but am concerned because it’s not a school known for science research (its R3) and doesn’t have a medical school or affiliated hospitals where I can shadow and volunteer.

University of Michigan: $59,000/yr (wayyy too expensive) but is my absolute top school and I would commit with even only a $15,000 scholarship. Is it possible to bargain for more money at this stage??

SUNY- Binghamton: $26,000/yr, so it’s more expensive than Villanova, but I got into FRI and the University Scholars program, and am wondering if I would have more research opportunities as a result.

Comments?? I’m honestly so depressed and feel like none of these are good options. I was also waitlisted at UVA, Cornell, and Notre Dame, some of my original top choices, but I doubt I’ll get off (though I hope so).

Villanova all day long. Based on your comments. Great school spirit. Easy to get for you. And there will be opportunities in the Philadelphia area with so many hospitals and schools You’ll have a great time and have to work really hard. That’s a great combination. And price. They obviously want you.

Full disclosure my primary care doc is a Villanova undergrad

Thanks!! @privatebanker

ask for more at umich

The kid has to say yes to someone by next weekend. Ask for more money immediately if they even do that a u mich for oos

I did ask multiple times but they don’t match scholarships and said they would email me by Monday if I was awarded money. I’m going to call next week though

Good luck. But I might go to Villanova anyway. My coworker in Newport RI just had some of the kids who have committed to Villanova over to his home. Which is on Bellevue avenue with all of the famous mansions. He has done very well and the kids attending seemed to be the cream of the crop. Villanova is an awesome school too. You won’t find a grad anywhere who thinks they are inferior to anyone from u mich. you should be excited by it. Either choice is great but don’t want you to feel like second fiddle. Villanova is a superb education opportunity for you and energetic place.

For your areas of interest, Case seems like it is the best option. But you probably can’t go wrong with any of them.
