Ok, to begin with I'm taking classes as a freshman at a local CC and looking to transfer in Spring 2010. I want to choose a college so I know what I'm working towards.

My dilemma-I'm interested in 2 schools, one in state and one out of state. I have a trust fund that is set up so i could porbably go through school in state and come out debt free. Also, i plan on majoring in accounting and the in-state school is ranked in the top 50 by BusinessWeek. Sounds good, but i really really want to experience somewhat of a culture shock, meet a completey new crowd of people, and be away from home. This university has a bunch of people from my state (especially from my county) going to it, and i wouldnt get to meet and experience something different like i would want to. So pros-a good business school, no debt. Cons-the college experience that i have in mind (although i know i could work hard and have fun there)

The other school I'm interested in is University of Kansas. Ive been reading about it and all i hear is great things, and i also here they have a solid business program. I hear all the ppl are nice, campus is beautiful, good academics, athletics, great college town, etc. The experience i want and the ability to meet new people. If i go there, itll knock out my trust fund and i would probably come out of school with atleast 20,000 in student loans. To be completely honest this would be my ideal place to go. I would love to go there. Pros-everything that I want in a college Cons-student debt

Basically, I was wondering what you all think of my options? I took the KU tuition costs for nonresidents and the cost of going to my CC, and subtracted it by my funds and there's about 30,000$ deficit. I figured working full time in the summers and working while at school I could cut that down some. So, how hard is it to pay off student loans after college? Does it put a big dent in beginning your life? Am i being selfish for wanting my ideal college experience vs going to a good business school and coming out without any debt? Also, any feedback on how student loaning works would be appreciated, im pretty much in the dark about that.

Any other information about KU would be much appreciated. Seems like a great school but im open to hear anything, if it is worth the cost of out of state, pros & cons of the university, etc.

(PS. Ive looked into transfer scholarships for KU and there are a few small ones but nothing that would significantly help me).

Thanks for reading
