Help Choosing American Summer University Programs

Dear All,

I am currently a International Student… High School Sophomore (and will finish sophomore year in May and be Rising Junior in the coming summer (2018)). This summer (2018) I plan to go to America and do a course there. This is my list of boiled down selections…

NOTE: I just want to hear the ones you have done or have heard about, what you think about them & their subject material & faculty, and would you recommend it… If you think some of the ones in my list are not worth the money / not intense pls say so (I’ve counted and most are either 6.5 or 5 hours per day of pure class time)

I have enough money for all the courses I’ve written down. I am fully aware that going to an Ivy League / good university over the summer doesn’t mean I get into the university or have a higher chance… The main reason I’m going is to experience a sliver of university life, american life & culture, meet new people who are better than me and like me, and learn some things that I really can’t find online or in my school. Do not worry about course pairings, I have already mapped them out if I want to do two different university course in succession, etc… Don’t worry about visas either

I have only heard a couple of people talking positively about YYGS program, but I don’t know any details.
Hope more people will chime in.

@makemesmart You’re implying that the majority say bad things about it??? What have they said bad about it? What have they said good about it?

@makemesmart ?

Sorry. I mean I know two people whose kids went to Yale’s global scholar program and both (girls) really enjoyed it.

@makemesmart Was it hard for them to get in? How good were their academic gpa, extracurriculars, and sat?

Both girls have super good stats. One of them got full scholarship and likes it, but says it is not worth self-pay.

What is not worth self pay, Yale Young Global Scholars… or their scholarship? So, are you saying Yale Young Global Scholars is not worth the money?
