Help choosing major Florida

So as I have looked into colleges, I have realized that pre med isn’t a major and that I need to pick something else. Now some schools have pre med programs that confuse me because do I have to pick a major to go with it or am I wrong about pre med not being a major? Also what do I have to major in in order to get into medical school later? Like I like pharmacy, chemistry, biology? But I think I want to be a pediatrician so I’m worried that if I major in say pharmacy that I can’t be a pediatrician. Also what schools have large medical programs? I live in Florida but am willing to go out of state. My GPA is 3.9 and my unweighted is 4.7 SAT I have a 1900 currently but I only took it once so hopefully can go up to at least a 2200. I’m will have taken over 10 aps and some duel enrollment once I graduate. Any tips or advice about all this will help thanks!

Hi, you’re correct, you do need to pick a major. The following link will take you to UF’s “Pre-Health” advision site. Under the “Prepare” tab will give you much more info on pursuing a “Pre-Health” program. The other state public universities would have similiar programs.

Also review the “Prep Timelines”.

Good Luck!
